Part of a half seated young man mended of four fragments. Preserved are the left foot that steps on the plinth and the rigidly bent right leg. The youth is naked with only a short himation over his back, the edges of which fall right and left on his sides. The toes are long, each with two phalanges accentuated, but no nails are rendered.

Similarities in posture and carving between this statue and another work in the Acropolis Museum Ακρ. 168 led to the conclusion that both sculptures come from the same group which has been considered to have also included Athena Ακρ. 142. Some researchers regard this group to have been a dedication representing two youths, perhaps both heroes half seated opposite the goddess playing pessoi or astragaloi (knucklebones).

Some others argue that the group decorated the pediment of an Acropolis building with Athena in its centre and the young men, perhaps attendants, in its corners. A few specialists believe that to this pediment also belong the horse Ακρ. 697 along with its fragments Ακρ. 572 and Ακρ. 573 as well as the fragments of the youth and the horse that he possibly leads by holding its reins Ακρ. 571 and Ακρ. 574.
